Gillian joined SDCEP in April 2012 having previously worked within dental research. At first from 2007 as part of the evaluation team of Childsmile based within NHS Fife. She continued her research interests in dentistry when moving to the University of St Andrews in 2009 to work on the BEHAVE study which investigated the communication strategies of Childsmile dental nurses. Concurrently, she was awarded an MPhil from the University of St Andrews in 2012. In November 2013 she began a PhD Fellowship in Improvement Science funded by the Health Foundation.
Gillian is interested in the implementation of research evidence into practice and the behaviour change associated with its implementation. Gillian’s work is part of TRiaDs (Translational Research in a Dental Setting) and SDPBRN (Scottish Dental Practice Based Research Network).
