After gaining a BSc in Pharmacology from King’s College London in 1993, Sarah qualified in Dentistry from Guy’s Hospital, University of London in 1999. She spent the first five years of her career as a Short Career Commission Dental Officer in the Royal Navy as Surgeon Lieutenant (D) with appointments in the UK and overseas, including a one year residential on call Senior House Officer Post in Maxillofacial Surgery. She obtained her MFDS (Royal College of Surgeons of England) in 2004.
Between 2005 and 2010, whilst her children were small, she worked part time as a Community Dental Officer in Hampshire, where her main interest was Paediatric Dentistry. She also undertook an outreach clinical teaching role in the Community with undergraduate Dental Therapists.
Sarah came to Dundee in 2011, initially working as a Specialty Dentist in Paediatric Dentistry at the Dental Hospital for NHS Tayside, providing clinical teaching to Dental undergraduates and contributing to service provision. In 2015 she gained her PGCertTHE. She was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry by the University of Dundee in 2015.
2014: Quantitative and Qualitative Survey of Undergraduates’ perspectives of their Paediatric Dental Training. (University Ethics committee approved survey with 77% response rate from 4th/5th year Undergraduates).
