‘Bad Teeth = Bad Health’ comes to the Edinburgh Fringe

It’s no secret that poor dental care leads to fillings and gum disease. But that’s not all.

According to Professor Jan Clarkson, a leading UK dental researcher and co-director of the Dental Health Services Research Unit at the University of Dundee, neglecting your teeth can have much more serious consequences – including potential links to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

University of Dundee in Top 10 for graduate employment

The University of Dundee is one of the top UK universities for graduate employment, according to this year’s Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey.

The survey, published by the Higher Education Statistics Authority, shows that 96.2% of Dundee graduates were in work or further study six months after graduation, up from 94.5% last year. In analysis of the data carried out by Times Higher Education, only seven large UK institutions scored higher.

EUROCleftNet Research Conference 2016 comes to Dundee

The University of Dundee welcomed dental experts from across Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Serbia) and from as far afield as the USA and Canada when it staged the recent EUROCleftNet Research Conference 2016: Genetics, Environment and Prevention.

Organised by the School of Dentistry’s Professor Peter Mossey and Bill Slater, the conference brought together the members of EUROCleftNet, a research networking programme for orofacial clefts research, prevention and treatment, funded by the European Science Foundation.

School of Dentistry alumni in UK’s Top 50 most influential dental professionals

Two prominent University of Dundee School of Dentistry alumni have been named in Dentistry magazine’s 2016 Dentistry Top 50.

The magazine’s readership – alongside visitors to its website, dentistry.co.uk – have voted for their top UK dental professionals every year for over a decade. Previous winners have included the then-Chief Dental Officer for England, Dr. Barry Cockcroft CBE, and Earl Howe, former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Quality.

Dundee named among Europe's most innovative Universities

The University of Dundee is ranked among the top 20 most innovative universities in Europe, and first in Scotland, in a new ranking produced by Reuters.

Reuters say their list of Europe’s 100 most innovative universities `identifies the educational institutions that are doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies, and help drive the global economy.’

The University of Dundee best in Scotland for Dentistry

The University of Dundee is the best place in Scotland to study Dentistry, according to the new 2017 Guardian University Rankings.

The ranking reflects strong student satisfaction scores at the University, which has been consistently rated as offering the best student experience in Scotland, and excellent performance in `Career after six months’, which reflects on employability of graduates.

The School of Dentistry is ranked 4th in the UK, behind only those at the Queen’s University Belfast, Plymouth University, and Queen Mary University of London.
