Child-friendly approach could make dental drama a thing of the past

Not many people enjoy a trip to the dentist, but the experience can be particularly stressful for youngsters. That’s why Professor Nicola Innes and Dr. Dafydd Evans from the University of Dundee School of Dentistry have developed a friendlier approach for their children’s department – with less use of potentially scary needles and drills.

Taking the time to teach patients and their parents how best to avoid decay is at the heart of this new method, which sees dentists encourage effective brushing and the monitoring of sugar intake.
